The MSI SPATIUM M450 is an internal solid-state drive (SSD) designed for desktop PCs and notebooks. It connects via the M.2 2280 form factor using a PCIe Gen4x4 interface, which is backward compatible with PCIe Gen3, Gen2, and Gen1 slots. The drive complies with the NVMe 1.4 protocol, enabling high-bandwidth data transfer. For the 500GB model, the drive achieves a maximum sequential read speed of 3,600 MB/s and a maximum sequential write speed of 2,300 MB/s. Random performance is rated at up to 300,000 IOPS for reads and 550,000 IOPS for writes (4KB).

Controller and NAND Flash

The drive is built around a Phison E19T controller and utilizes 3D NAND flash memory technology. 3D NAND allows for dense data storage in a compact design, contributing to the M.2 2280 form factor.

Reliability and Data Protection

The SPATIUM M450 incorporates several features to ensure data integrity and drive longevity. It supports advanced features including TRIM for performance optimization, SMART for drive health monitoring, LDPC (Low Density Parity Check) ECC Algorithm for error correction, and End to End Data Path Protection to ensure reliable data transfer. The drive also supports Pyrite encryption for data security.

Endurance

The 500GB variant has a Terabytes Written (TBW) rating of 300TB, indicating the total amount of data that can be written to the drive over its lifespan. The Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) is rated at up to 1,500,000 hours.
