The Nintendo Switch 2 is the next-generation evolution of the hybrid gaming system. It features a 7.9-inch wide color gamut LCD screen with a native resolution of 1920×1080, supporting HDR10 and variable refresh rates up to 120 Hz for smoother visuals in compatible games . The console is powered by a custom NVIDIA processor and includes 256GB of internal storage (UFS), expandable via microSD Express cards up to 2TB . Docking and Video Output
The updated Nintendo Switch 2 dock supports video output up to 3840×2160 (4K) resolution at 60 fps when connected to a compatible TV. For displays supporting 120 Hz, output is available at 1920×1080 or 2560×1440 resolutions. The dock also features a built-in wired LAN port for stable online connections and two USB 2.0 ports .
Joy-Con 2 Controllers
The reimagined Joy-Con 2 controllers attach to the console via magnetic connectors. Each controller incorporates an accelerometer, gyroscope, and a mouse sensor for compatible games, enabling new control schemes. The right Joy-Con 2 features a new C Button for activating GameChat. Each controller contains a 500mAh lithium-ion battery with approximately 20 hours of battery life . The controllers support “HD Rumble 2” for enhanced tactile feedback .
Connectivity and GameChat
The console supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth wireless communication . A built-in monaural microphone with noise cancellation and echo cancellation supports voice chat. GameChat functionality, accessed via the C Button, allows players to voice chat, share their game screen, and (with a compatible USB-C camera, sold separately) engage in video chat during gameplay. GameChat can be used without a Nintendo Switch Online membership until March 31, 2026; a paid membership will be required thereafter .
Battery and Power
The console is powered by a non-removable 5220mAh lithium-ion battery with an estimated playtime of approximately 2 to 6.5 hours, depending on the game being played . A full charge from sleep mode takes approximately 3 hours. Power consumption in TV mode during active gaming is rated at approximately 19 W .
